INTERVIEW

I interviewed one of my fellow classmates to get their opinion on Affirmative Action:

Q: How do you feel about affirmative action?
A: I think that it doesn't matter your type of race or who you are, you should always be accepted into a college like any other person, everyone should be equal.

Q: Do you think that Colleges should get rid of affirmative action from the admissions?
A: Yes, its wrong because if your qualified to get  in, but if they have to fill their quota for the race, its not right.

Q: Have you been affected by affirmative action?
A: No I have not.

articles and databases

Today in class, I found a couple of articles and databases that will be very useful for my research. I found an article called Affirmative Action: The influence or type of justification on non beneficiary attitudes toward affirmative action plans in higher education. I found this through the Academic Search Complete. I thought what we learned today was really helpful. Before I was confused and was just typing in affirmative action, when my topic is - Should affirmative action be banned when during admissions? I learned I could type in keywords from my question, and ill find like the perfect amount of articles.

reaction towards tutorials

I think that this tutorial was actually very helpful. It was a little confusing in the begining, but once i started to get the hang of it, it became very easy and helpful. When I was looking up articles, there were some random articles that I found, but there was one that stood out to me. When I am going to do my bibliography because all you are going to have to click is the cite button, and it is in MLA format already!

past experiences

On September 11, 2001, our country was under attack by terrorists. I remember sitting in school and then over the loud speaker hearing that the world trade center in the city has been hit. Many people in school were crying because either parents, or family members were in their. I remember getting let out of school, and all the teachers were in shock calling family to see if everything was okay. I got home, and I remember that this was the only thing that was on T.V. for the next 3 days. My Mom and Dad both worked in the city at that time, and it took them 5 hours to get home, when it usually takes 30 - 45 minuets. Looking back on it now, everyone was affected by this, and it took a toll on our country. It is going to affect thousands of people for the rest of their lives from volunteering at the site, or loosing loved ones, or just witnessing it. I think that 9/11 just made our country much more stronger, and more united. It will never be forgotten.

Past experiences

A research paper is a paper that goes in depth about a topic. You have to look through different books, magaizines, internet resources, and so much more to get different kinds of information. In high school, I had to write multiple research papers for my College Writing class and my Economics class. I wrote a paper on immigration, the gambling industry and Dunkin Donuts. All these papers had to be 5 pages and I ahd to find multiple resources of outside information. Throughout my papers I had to site where the information came from, and then had to put it on the bibliography. Overall, it all came out to be an indepth summary of all of the topics.
